This section details the Protection arrangements at East Ham.
Depot Protection is the procedure used to protect people from train movements.
East Ham Depot has an Automated System that provides visual aids and physical barriers.
The system is controlled by activating a switch in a yellow box called the ADP Switch.
The SPM's are responsible for giving permission to work on Roads and Trains.
Before working you must first seek permission from the SPM.
The SPM will ask you to sign the Record of Protection Book to confirm your arrangements.
A member of staff with the qualification "DP East Ham Depot", will apply the protection.
The Depot is fitted with indicator lights. The lights are a visual representation of the status of the road.
Not To Be Moved Boards(NTBM) must be fitted to the cab window before work commences.
Personal Protection Padlocks are used to stop the Automated system being switched OFF while you are working.
Each individual working on a Road must apply their padlock before entering a road.
When working on the low level or under a train, Scotches must be fitted under the wheel. They stop uncontrolled movement of the train.
